Xerosis (the medical name for dry skin), is common among many people. And when it is your default skin type, it is very difficult to have a simpler skin care routine. Heat, very hot showers, parched environment and harsh body wash products can harm the skin and make it dry. One needs to change the skin care routines once the humidity levels drop. Dry air can make wrinkles seem more visible and can also flake, crack, and even bleed. In short, dry skin can make your skin look dull and prone to various skin infections.

To help heal dry skin and prevent its return, we have following tips for you to take care of yourself during this harsh environment of winter and get the fast relief you were looking for.

USE OILS: Using body oils and especially using coconut oil, can enhance your body’s skin tone and also protect it from getting itchy and flaky. You can use coconut oil on daily basis. Just apply it on the dry skin, lightly massage it and leave it as it is overnight. Have a warm bath and you are ready to go with a healthy skin without losing your essential oils.

TAKE WARM BATHS: We all often tend to have a bath with steaming hot water. This practice can hurt the skin a lot and makes it itchy and extremely dry. Try avoiding taking very hot baths and use warm water instead, especially while washing your hair. This way you will never lose the essential oils you need for your body and hair.

EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN, NATURALLY: While looking for chemical and synthetic products that would retrieve our moisture back to us, we can also try natural products as a remedy for dry skin. Make a scrub mixing olive oil and sugar. Or make a scrub out of oatmeal and honey. Use a good quality moisturizer afterwards to lock all the goodness inside skin pores.

AVOIDING USING HARSH CHEMICALS: These chemicals include alcohol and apple cider vinegar. Both are highly recommended in face masks and and facials but can harm the skin and make it dull and dry Also exclude toners, peels and other astringents . Try using yogurt or any moisturizing face wash.

DRESS UP APPROPRIATELY: Sun damage and extremely cold environments can take all the essential fat away from your body. Wear such clothes that protect your skin from getting all dried up and wrinkly.
